The Basics of HTML

<> These are tags. I may call the sideways triangles or "carrots" but they are Tags. They surround all HTML codes or commands.

To start an HTML code you have to have a command inside the tags. then to end a command you must have the tags with a / and the command. like this. </command>

<p> means paragraphs. So whenever you want your text or pictures to go onto another line type in <p> but when you want that paragraph to end you must put </p>

How to Change your Profile font.

The first part is actually the font face or the type of font. simply place the name of the font that you'd like to use in there.

Color = the strange numbers with the FF are the "name" of the color of the font.

Neon Pink = #FF00FF Neon green = #00FF00 Navy = #000080   Red = #FF0000

Brown = #800000 Dark Green = #008000 White = #FFFFFF

Yellow = #FFFF00 Purple =  #800080 Silver = #C0C0C0

Teal = #008080 Light pink = #FF66CC Gray = #808080

How to Work the HTML in the Comments on Guest books

<a> <em> <strong> <cite> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <dl> <dt> <dd>

Those are the ONLY HTML tags that will work in the guestbooks at IDM web.

Now here's what they mean.

<a>

<em> italisized

<strong> bolded

<cite> italisized. like a comment

<code> changes the type to this type.Hi people

<ul> a new paragraph

<ol> new paragraph

<li> A list, bullets

  • like this

    <dl> new paragraph 

    <dd> new paragraph

    I'm really not sure on some of them. so if you know better. Please help me out.

    YouTube Embeds and how to change their sizes

    here is a sample code to embed.

    see the width and height? Just change the 425 and 350 to other numbers.

    How to get rid of Advertising on Poqbum

    So we all want cool profiles. And a good site to do that with is www.poqbum.com

    here's the problem. With everything you add the more advertisement that pops up.

    And it's all in the HTML. I'll show you how to get rid of the advertisements to keep you profile looking neat.

    Cursors

    Here's a sample HTML for a cursor.

    See the the bolded, blue, and underlined part of the HTML? That part is the exact same for EVERY cursor on poqbum.

    Simply cut that part out of the HTML. The cursor will still work only you won't have an annoying advertisement.

    By Now you should have seen the similarities and have gotten the pattern by now. Please have unique profiles but do not clutter them with advertisements!!

    How to Create a Hyperlink on your Profile

    Creating a Hyperlink is really rather simple.

    <a href="type in the address where you want the link to go here">

    Now the next part is a bit tricky. It depends on what you want to do.

    if you want the image representing the linke to have a border type a number in there

    Unless you have a web address and can upload all the entire page like me, you must put the pic on the internet first. you can do that on photobucket.com or some other uploading site.

    width changes how wide the pic will be

    How tall your height will be.

    However if you only want the pic to be the same size and have no border then all you really need to do is this.

    have the same <a href.. and then when you get to image..

    type in <img src="address of picture">

    How can I change the TOTAL Background of my profile??

    You can't. The default background for IDM web will always remain the same. You can change the background of your font or you can type in a background and it will pop up for a few seconds.. but you cannot permanently change it.

    However, you can change it using a profile editor. This may stretch out your profile and/or squish it or put it into a table.

    How to Put pictures or Sparkly text over your profile

    #1 Fallow the steps on the IDM help page.

    #2 Use this HTML as the base HTML.

    You may notice that this is the HTML for the advertisement of poqbum.com when you put up a cursor.

    Now take out the <a href="http:....."> part.

    Look at the img src= part. That is where you will put the URL of the picture or sparkly text.

    <b style="position:absolute;left:0px;top:90px;font-family:verdana;font-size:8pt;">

    This is the key HTML.

    It means that it will put your picture over the profile. (position:absolute;)

    You may change left to center or right.

    and you can change top to bottom or middle. So how do you move the picture more?

    simply change left;0px to left;10px and the picture will be moved 10 pixels to the left edge of the profile.

    then you can change top;90px to say top;120px. and the pic will be moved from 90 pixels from the top to 120 pixels from the top. Sort of get the picture now?
