This here is my help page. If I don't have something here that you need, feel free to pm me or post a comment on my profile @ IDM web.

How to get an avatar

#1) Find a pic. go to google (or wherever) on the net and click until it's "full size" (see Pic #1) then right click and save it into your documents (see Pic #2) . OR simply pick out a Pic you want that's already saved in your documents.

#2)Go to the edit profile page. you do this by looking just right of your profile Pic (aka avatar). (see the top picture) If you do not have a personalized avatar yet, it should look like a pink shamrock.

#3) Once you get the the edit avatar page, scroll down to the picture box (see Pic #3). Click on browse button (to the right) then find the Pic's name in your documents and double click. then there should be a long "address" in the box to the left of the browse button. it might look like this. C:\MSOffice\My Documents\odds and ends\Irish art\Celtic knots\star.doc (it doesn't have to look like that... I just randomly picked one out of my documents so you can get an idea of how it looks)

Pic #3 (on a side note, if you are just changing an avatar, your current avatar will appear like mine does.

If you don't have a personalized avatar yet, then it will be blank)

#3) Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click submit.

You should automatically be taken to your "My Irish dance space" there should be your Pic as your avatar. If you get a box with an x, (like below)

you should restart a few times or log out, exit internet and then go back and log in... Also go back to edit profile and see if the picture shows up above the browse box (see picture #3) and if that doesn't work try another picture. Sometimes some just won't work because of where you found them on the net.

How to Add friends to your buddy list

#1) Go to the Profile of the person you wish to add

#2) Simply double click on Add to Buddy list.

#3) You will be taken to a page with simply an add or cancel. Click on add.

#4) That person will then be notified that you have added them the next time they log in, edit their profile, or refresh their "My Irish dance page"

How To Search For People, Content, or Galleries

#1) Look above to the light pink boxes under the Irish dance and culture logo.

#2) Click on Search (see picture)

#3) chose what category you want to search in

#4) Type in a keyword and search. for an advanced search click on advanced search and click on certain specifications.

NOTE: Advanced Searches are only for content.

Instant message

#1) Go to the ANYONE'S profile (even your own "My Irish dance space", though on your space it will look like this) Click on Instant Message

#2) You will be taken to another page. On it, there will be something that looks like this.

#3) Click on the arrow and see who's on.

NOTE: THEY MUST BE ONLINE TO INSTANT MESSAGE THEM. OTHERWISE, THEY WON'T SHOW UP.

#4) Type your message into the box.

NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY TYPE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF CHARACTERS

#5) Double Click on send.

Personal Messaging

(You can do this 2 ways, both are listed)

#1) (a) Go to "My Irish dance space" and click on inbox

#2) (a) under your list of messages, you are to double click on.....

#3) (a) type in the person's name you want to send the message to

#1) (b) Go to the person's profile who you wish to send the pm and click on send message.

#2) (b) type in your message

#3) (b) go to step 4

#4) Double click on Send private message

How To Change your Blurb

#1) Go to your "My Irish dance space"

#2)click on edit profile. You will end up at a page like this

#3) Click on Additional information

#4) scroll down to blurb and type in your message that you want people to read about you!

#5) Double Click the Submit button

How To Get Badges

NOTE: THESE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT PEOPLE HAD WHEN THE SITE FIRST CAME OUT, BUT THERE ARE WAY MORE NOW AND THERE IS STILL ONE THAT NO ONE HAS GOTTEN YET.

You get the Bronze medal after getting over 1000 points.

This is the Code of conduct badge. IDM admin gives out this badge.

You MUST have this badge to be considered for IDM profile of the Month.

This is for appearing in IDM mag for that current month.

You get this if you are a subscriber of IDM.

(If you are a subscriber and do not have this badge, simple pm IDM admin or post a comment on IDM admin profile and you will get one.)

This Badge no longer exists. Only Admin had it. I thought I'd put it up here though just a as an interesting fact.

I believe it was for being featured in the magazine as POTM or DOTM. It was only for one month. The next month, they came out with the stars.

Only a few people have this badge yet. It's for 5000 points. Some of them are Colz, Seddon, Me, Bridgey Pie, Irish_Sunshine and a few others, but the number is growing! :)

This is If you were featured in IDM mag as Dancer of the Month.

This is if you went to All Irelands 2007.

You got this is you went to Worlds 2007

This is for winning a spot on IDM TV. AKA being an IDM TV Director.

You get this for if you were featured as an IDM featured artist.

Then there's this "mystery" merit medal. It's for when someone get's 20,000 points.

Here's what admin says about it.

"???? 20,000 points! ???? for when a user gets over 20000 points"

How to get points

#1) Posting on the forum gives you one point

#2) Posting on other's Profile Guestbook give you one point

#3) Adding Friends give you 5 points.

#4) Adding a Wish List gets you 10 points per item

NOTE: IDM IS NOT ABOUT POINTS. IT IS ABOUT MAKING FRIENDS.

THE COMPETITION THAT HAPPENED ON THE OLD SITE WAS BAD, NEW RULES SUCH AS THE NO POSTING FOR 30

SECONDS AND OTHER SUCH RULES HAVE KEPT THIS COMPETITION DOWN SO FAR ON THE NEW SITE.

WHICH MAKES ME HAPPY. IF PEOPLE BEGIN TO ABUSE THIS SECTION I WILL TAKE THIS DOWN!!!

Here are the automatic points

#1) At 1000 points you get 50 points

#2) At 5000 points you get an automatic 75 points

#3) If you become POTM (Profile Of The Month) you get an automatic 600 points

#4) If you get a subscribe to the magazine shamrock, you get 500 points

#5) Once you get 10,000 points you recieve 150 points

#6) If you are an IDM TV Director you get 500 points

Points of Random Change

Sometimes IDM will have points as the Daily wins.

They are either worth 500 or 1000 points and go to one winner.

How to change your intro text

(AKA the words above your guestbook, or where people comment on your profile)

#1) Go to Edit your profile.

#2) scroll down to intro text

#3) type in what you want to say.

#4) double click on Submit

NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE ENABLE BUTTON CLICKED OR PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO POST ON YOUR GUESTBOOK

How to upload images into your gallery

#1) Go to profile

#2) Click on upload images.

NOTE: NOW YOU HAVE 3 CHOICES.

#3) Click on browse and find a picture in your files.

Then add in a caption (don't really have to tho)

#4) Click on Add items at the bottom

#3) Find a Pic on the internet that you like. Make sure you have it on full sized image or image alone (see Pic #1)

#4) Then copy the address in the address bar (aka the URL)

#5) click on Find Files

#6) you will be taken to another page.

#7) Check the box next to the URL

#8) Click on Add URLs

#3) link to album... click on the down arrow and pick the person's sn that you wish to link to

click on external URL and paste in the URL

#4) add link

#5) The link will now be in your gallery.

Ranking Image

A ranking image is the Celtic knots below one's avatar and above one's points.

I'm not quite sure what the point count is for some of these. The only one I know so far is the feet of flames. However, the cool knots are the spinning knots. Here is an icon of them.

Mine is this one. (Feet of Flames.)

On the old site, there used to be Feet of Flames where the Celtic knots were actually on Fire. Apparently this graphic could not be done on the new site so now we just have filled nots.

Anyway. The highest celtic knots SO FAR is held ONLY by Colz, Seddon69, and me.. You get them at 5000 pts.

My keltic knots look exactly like that, but I have a different ranking title because I have over 10,000 points.

Ranking Titles

I know the first rank is Newbie. Newbie ends at 48 points.

Not sure all of the one's inbetween tho.

I know that FAB happens after Dedicated Diva.

I know that Feet of Flames starts at 5000.

Then I THINK Slip Gig master starts at 7525.

Currently, not one has Slip Gig Master, tho I suspect Colz will recieve this title while I am way at French camp.

I have the highest ranking so far. It is World champ! And it starts at 10,000 points.

Who knows what the next rank is, if there is one!

Wishlist

What is a wishlist?

A wishlist is where you post the items you want and you post the price and a link on where to get them.

When someone gets the item you want they can tell the program that they got it for you and then people won't double buy gifts for you.

How Do I get this Wishlist?

Just fallow the steps.

#1) Go to your profile

#2) click on wishlist

#3) you will be taken to another page

#4)click on the add wishlist item link

#5) Type in the info.

NOTE: URL's are not needed, but may help the buyer find the item

#6) Click submit

How to Add Pictures to Your profile

(as in How do I get Pictures in my Interests and blurb space?)

First thing you have to know = The picture has to be put on the internet

Now after that you have two ways of doing this.

#1 Upload your pic onto photobucket.com (no www) and then you'll have an embed code you can copy and paste into your profile where you want it.

Note: Play with how big it is, by puting in different numbers in height and width.

#2 Find a cool pic on the net. Go to where it is full sized.

Note: You can play with width here too!

How Do I move pictures, words or Sparkly Text over parts of my Profile?? (aka outside of the boxes) y profile???

This Deals with HTML.

#1 Find pic or sparkly text. Find the address or URL of the picture.

#2 Look at the HTML for a cursor. The end part where the advertisement is is what you are going to manipulate.

#3 Use this HTML as the base HTML.

You may notice that this is the HTML for the advertisement of poqbum.com when you put up a cursor.

Now take out the <a href="http:....."> part.

Look at the img src= part. That is where you will put the URL of the picture or sparkly text.

This is the key HTML.

It means that it will put your picture over the profile. (position:absolute;)

You may change left to center or right.

and you can change top to bottom or middle. So how do you move the picture more?

simply change left;0px to left;10px and the picture will be moved 10 pixels to the left edge of the profile.

then you can change top;90px to say top;120px. and the pic will be moved from 90 pixels from the top to 120 pixels from the top. Sort of get the picture now?

This is a tricky concept so if you still don't get it, please check and see if I'm online on IDM web and ask me how to do it. :)

How do I get YouTube Videos on my Profile?

#1 Go to YouTube

#2 Find a video you want

#3 Look right and see the HTML codes like embed and Url

#4 copy ALL of the embed HTML (see picture below)

#5 paste it into your blurb or boxes under interest.

NOTE: Guestbook will not work. For more info on this go to HTML page

#6 Change the #s under height and width to make the video fit better into your profile!

#7 Click submit

How Do I get a Profile counter or a glitter text? (or games, lava lamps, etc.)

You probably should go to http://www.poqbum.com/default.html

There you can find many things to spice up your profile.

It's all by copying the HTML and pasting it into your interest boxes or blurbs.

Now here's what I don't like about this site.

Everything you add, they add ADVERTISEMENT to it. I have worked hard to keep my profile advertising free, besides promoting my own site.

I do this bye getting rid of hyperlinks to this site or click here buttons. To learn how to do this, go to the HTML page.

And Please learn. It's very annoying. XD

NOTE: Also.. please if you do choose a game, choose a game that I have not chosen. I would like my profile to remain as unique as possible.

How can I change the TOTAL Background of my profile??

You can't. The default background for IDM web will always remain the same. You can change the background of your font or you can type in a background and it will pop up for a few seconds.. but you cannot permanently change it.

How do I become Profile Of The Month? (POTM)

Read the code of conduct people.

That gives you a bit of an idea.

However... it's not really a cut and dry thing.

My advice.

#1 Get super involved. Admin can't give you a code of conduct if they don't really know who you are and don't have a ton of info on you.

(YOU MUST HAVE THE CODE OF CONDUCT to become POTM)

#2 Be super nice to people.

#3 Post things that are totally on topic or try to stay on topic. don't just put random stuff on (thankfully there really hasn't been much of this)

#4 HAVE FUN!!!

#5 Don't concentrate on points (if you're having fun they just sort of come anyway.)

#6 Keep coming. You got to stick to it. It may take many months until you are finally chosen.

#7 Make yourself stand out it some way. Make yourself creative.

#8 Make Friends but don't randomly add people because that really means nothing.
